The Art Of Brian Haberlin

Email:

Brian Haberlin began his career working in development for Lorimar/Warner Brothers Television. He eventually returned to his first love, comics, joining Image Comics' Top Cow Productions, where he branched out to create and write several properties. This effort includes co-creating the perennial fan favorite, WITCHBLADE. WITCHBLADE rocketed to sales chart topping fame upon its release and retains a strong following even today...over two decades since its release. During that time, WITCHBLADE had been adapted as a television series, a manga and even a novel.

Brian left Top Cow to form his own studio in 1995.

Since its inception, he and his studio were involved with at least one Top Ten comic title every month for several consecutive years with as many as four titles in any given month. The studio client list included all the top comic companies (Marvel Entertainment, DC Entertainment, Image Comics, etc.) and properties such as SPAWN, X-MEN, DAREDEVIL, SPIDER-MAN, IRON MAN, BLACK PANTHER and countless others. Original projects included STONE (top selling independent title upon release), M. REX (which became Cartoon Network’s GENERATOR REX) and ARIA (whose artist, Jay Anacleto, won the coveted “Russ Manning Promising Newcomer” award from the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards). Other works created during this period include: AREA 52, HELLCOP, ATHENA, INC., JINN, CAPTAIN WONDER and THE WICKED. He’s also served as Editor in Chief of Todd McFarlane Productions (SPAWN), eventually spearheading art chores of the iconic title.

In 2012, Brian became the co-founder and primary talent of Anomaly Productions. Its debut title, ANOMALY, is the longest original full-color graphic novel ever published. It also introduced the first deep integration of AR (Augmented Reality) as an immersive device in the print world.

Subsequent graphic novels SHIFTER, ANOMALY: THE RUBICON and a young adult novel (written by co-founder Skip Brittenham) all include this technology as a free companion app for most Apple and Android devices. FASTER THAN LIGHT was an original comic series published through Image Comics and in development for TV through Skydance Media (Mission Impossible: Fallout (Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation), Annihilation, Star Trek: Into Darkness (Beyond), World War Z).

MEDIEVAL SPAWN AND WITCHBLADE was a four-issue miniseries which reunited two of Brian’s favorite characters over 20 years since their last meeting.

Brian continues his creative publishing work through Anomaly Productions with several projects under development and teaches at Minneapolis College of Art and Design. He also operates DigitalArtTutorials.com, which provides educational tutorials for digital artists of all skill levels.
